A new low in Star Wars games

This made me throw up a bit in my mouth...

http://www.ign.com/videos/2012/04/03/kinect-star-wars-why-is-han-solo-dancing

Has it really gone this far?  Makes me miss the old days when LucasArts was making awesome games that respected the license.

Picking that carbon freezing scene for this travesty seems like it was an intentional F U by Lucas and friends.

I thought the commercials were bad enough...that is indescribably awful and disrespectful to the films themselves. Who the heck thought this was a good idea?

You guys sometimes get riled over the most pointless things. So it's incredibly stupid - big deal. It's just a goddamn video game. It's not like this is being inserted into the movies and made canon.

My Heather Langenkamp avatar has decided to go on an extended vacation and may not be back for sometime. Not to worry, though, for she will be back - eventually.

It will probably make it into Lucas' next version of Empire

In the context of Star Wars gaming, much of the extended universe (but not all of it), and obviously the releases from '97 and after, I've been telling myself that for such a long time. Somehow, though, LFL and the licensed merchandisers never cease to amaze me with how insulted I can feel. Well, nevertheless, I hope it doesn't get any worse.

Part of me wants to Cry,
the other part is laughing my head off.
Its not that surprising. Dance games  are popular.
I have never played one but they mostly play music I hate
And have singers I hate.
If I had an Xbox this is something I mite pick up in the $5.00 and under box at game stop.
Remember
Star Wars: Demolition.
It was a  rip-off  of Vigilante 8.
what about
Star wars Masters of Teras Kase
LucasArts' first fighting game.
Ok they make more sense than this.
But how where they going to make a
Star Wars guitar hero rip-off?
Now dancing they could do that.

V8 was an awesome game, for its time. I still have it lying around somewhere with my PS1. What system(s) was Demolition on?

That was also on the Playstation.

Back on topic...

The girls dancing in Jabba's Palace was pretty sweet.

But, Han and Lando dancing in the Carbonite chamber was a bit odd, to say the least.

Forget the game someone get me the bear in the green tee-shirt's number this instant!

The games have always had weird crap in them.

Star Wars Monster Trucks, Star Wars fighting games where a Tusken can beat Vader etc, etc.

I rather liked the disco opening to Rogue Squadron III.

If there is a problem is that the dancing stuff is in the same game as the fighting.

In an ideal world you would have one fun fighting game with lightsabers and stuff and another silly game with lots more dancing (which presumably nobody would buy).

Anakin doing the sand dance on his mother's grave is something I'd pay to watch (not much but a few pennies perhaps).

Say goodbye, to all this and "hello" to Jason Issacs.

I have to admit I played Dance Central 2 over Christmas with my nephew.  We all got into it, and it was fun.  And it really gives you a workout!  I have no problem with dance games.

And I like some silly stuff, parodies, etc.  Heck my avatar is Chewie throwing a baseball.  But Han dancing and Lobot going crazy just had me shaking my head.  Like they were aiming for funny but really missed.

I meant Star Wars dancing silly :-P

Sith Waltzing would be fun.

THE WORST THE WORST THE WORST

It wouldn't hurt so bad if we could just ignore it and watch the actual films =(

Bingowings' avatar
RE: A new low in Star Wars games

So no love for the notion of Tango Fett?

I agree about the actual films though.

Doing this sort of thing on a game is one thing, scribbling all over the films and not releasing the original versions is the real indignity.

Say goodbye, to all this and "hello" to Jason Issacs.

Aw, come on.  I thought that was funny.  Just a silly mini game in a video game.  I got a chuckle out of it.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming... Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Funny thing is... I've seen reviews claim that's the only fun part of the game! haha.  Apparently control is really sluggish.

I can't wait till someone on this forum posts an actual review of the game.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

They should have marketed it as a Robot Chicken Star Wars game, as the inspiration is obvious. ;)
