A Question on Imperial Lasers

Why is it the laserfire from Imperial ships is green, but the laserfire from their blasters and walkers is the same red-orange as the Rebels'? Where the animators just too lazy to draw in different colour beams or something along those lines when it came to charged gunfight scenes?

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

And for that matter, why did the good guys / bad guys switch laserfire color between the PT and the OT? That always screwed with my head back when TPM first came out.

woah, good thing I'm colorblind.

... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

This.

I always preferred the grey ANH-era TIEs. Somehow they seemed more hostile and mechanical, befitting the nature of the Empire.

Yup.

It was always weird to me, too.

I think that the green lasers are the high powered Turbolasers. The Turbolasers are large and probably expensive installations, whereas red lasers are lower power and readily available throughout the galaxy, further indicating that the Empire is better equipped. That's how I choose to interpret it, anyway.

But TIE's shoot green too. They're small.

They're a lot bigger than a blaster.

Maybe green ones don't work as well in atmosphere, explaining why AT-ATs, despite their size, don't use them.

What about TPM, then?

This is where people start talking about their personal canon probably

You're absolutely right!  Except it's science fantasy more than science fiction.  And these stories still try to loosely follow the laws of physics.  And the Rebel lasers seem to cause just as much damage as Imperial lasers.  And what does "are R" mean?

The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit.  Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.

Let's not continue to 2 detail threads about these kinds of arguements about "what genre is star wars". If U want to, either me and/or you should create a new thread about that very intresting topic/debate. It is science fiction, the case is now closed.

I'll will try to stop writing in duplicate double words/messages from now on, aka, ie, stuff like/such as "are R". it's is just an annoying OCD habit that I do. This will be my last post/message that I will conciously do that annoying OCD stuff crap in!!!

ALLOL!!!

That sounds like the opposite of goody.  It sounds very evil to me.

This canonical source clearly shows what would happen if it fired on a gas giant.
