Padawan LearnerJust a heads up for fans of this series. I was at the Wal-mart by my home and picked up all 7 movies plus Freddy vs. Jason in 2 sets for $8.00USD. They have a $4.00 & $5.00 bin in Electronics with other DVD sets.
These are the 1999/2000 releases with the original mono soundtracks for the first 3 films. It looks like the flipper disc sets but has slightly different artwork.

quick question
the song that features during the end credits of NOES2
is that the original song because the VHS version I grew up with (can't remember if it's on the DVD) featured some of the film score
I saw a BD projected during a marathon and had never heard the song before (it's like a 50's song I think)

It's called "Did You Ever See A Dream Walking" by Bing Crosby and as far as I know, it's always been there. I consider myself somewhat of a horror buff, and I've never heard of a version that didn't use the song. Do you still have that VHS copy you grew up with?
EDIT: Found your answer. Apparently the studio didn't wanna pay for the rights to use some of the musical selections from the theatrical version when bringing the film to home video. Due to the negative critical reaction at the box office, they were probably trying to play it cheap. All music was restored on the DVD version and now BluRay.

Didn't one of the A Nightmare on Elm Street Laserdiscs have a PCM track? I'd love to delete the rest of the dub tracks including the lossy 2.0 and substitute in the PCM on the USA Blu-ray. Did any of the other ANoES films on Laserdisc have PCM audio?
DVD is dead to me, except some TV shows, and since I only owned the first ANoES on DVD, I'd rather buy the Blu-ray boxset.

the original mono mix can only be found on the old us laserdisc and japan laserdisc. the mono audio on these ld is also analog. so to get the best quality, someone with a good capture setup would be need to capture the audio.
everything after these laserdisc had the circle surround remix, up to the dreadful 7.1 remix on blu-ray. at least they included the original mono mix as a lossy dolby track.
