Is there any member here that has these for all 3 films,I am going to do a “Take 2” on this set along with the Japanese Special Collection but would really like to add in the better audio if possible.

I thought those were upmixes, as opposed to the true 5.1 on the LD?

I have the 97 SE boxset(LOL obviously I am capping it again)but I can't rip the 5.1 or at least I do not think I can.
So the LD Special Edition Boxset is DD 5.1,I have looked all over my set and can't find that anywhere,I have optical out on my LD player and my sound card has optical in I am pretty sure,I have to look into this.

The 5.1 on the laserdisc is obviously stored in the ac3 format and needs to be decoded. You need what a player with ac3 rf out?
The digital audio is the pcm and is stereo only.
I believe the ac3 to be the theatrical 1997 dolby digital 5.1 mix without any sort of confirmation. Obviously the other audio flavors from 1997 are missing except for these 2.
Missing is the 6 track dts.
SDDS was also used but is used in theaters only.

I can't remember the exact details but i believe someone supplied adywan with the 5.1 for a new hope, wonder if he still has it?
As for direct lossless captures in digital for empire and jedi i don't know if they have ever been done.
Also i think adywan used/included the 97 mix on his HD release of star wars special edition, but he took out greedo shooting.

The Look SE and 5 Star DVD5 claim to have DD 5.1
The 5 Star DVD9 even claims to have DD5.1DTS.
These are all from the Laserdiscs but I am not sure how genuine or good they are.

Adywan's ANH AVCHD uses the laserdisc 5.1, but it's altered (due to his restoration of the pre-SE Greedo scene at least - I think he might have spliced in the 2004 audio for the Jabba scene as well); I think his ESB AVCHD has the unaltered LD 5.1 as an option.
My ANH AVCHD has the 5.1 laserdisc audio captured using a yamaha natural sound RF demodulator.It doesn't use any other source. All is did was cut out the shot of greedo firing. My ESB AVCHD has the full unedited 5.1 laserdisc audio
Gotcha. I didn't remember if they redid Jabba's voice for the 04 DVD or not, and I thought your ANH AVCHD used the 04 Jabba voice. It would appear I was mistaken.
So I can get the ESB 5.1 from the Ady's AVCHD,but where can I get SW and ROTJ untouched?

I know that the GKar and the 5 star collection sets are upmixes. I don't know about the Look SE set though, but if its the audio of the SE i was sent before getting the laserdiscs then that is an upmix too
I sent out a disc with all the SE laserdisc 5.1 rips to SkyJedi weeks ago but it looks like its got lost because of our bloody postal strikes. I'm going to upload the 5.1 audio to usenet later next week if anyones interested
