20th Century Fox Reboot

I know this isn't really related to Star Wars but:

Bad move, imagine having this behind each Star Wars film.

Mindless rubbish.

JEDIT although I must say if it were for any other movie studio it wouldn't look too bad, that font is cool and I'm a sucker for minimalist looks. But as a new logo for 20th Century.. it just sucks ass.

... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

So they also changed their name? To 21st?

The point for logos is to provide identification. Brand loyalty blah blah... etc. How am I supposed to identify with something completely different? How many people will think "cheap Chinese imitation"?

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...

It's a refreshing minimalist logo, clean, crisp, modern. I'd lake this over the recent gaudy looking CGI-ified recreations of the classic fox logo any day.

Of course I'd rather they used the old grainy 70s/80s logo.

Not sure about the bleepy bloopy sounds. A bit non discript. I like the old skool movie studio logos. They were designed to evoke an almost arrogant level of self importance and power.

What captures our studio guys?

Erm... maybe some towering hundred ft high letters, or even a roaring lion or even better a f*ckoff big mountain!

There's not much fanfare about it is there? Imagine this before a Star Wars film! Feels like its been created by someone devoid of imagination.

Now there's a logo with lasting power. Like the 1972 Warner Bros. logo.

Weird. It looks like the poster from the second x files movie...

21st Century Fox will be the legal successor to the current News Corporation, from which a new News Corporation will be spun off.

The 21st Century Fox brand will not extend to the existing 20th Century Fox division, which will remain under its current name.

So they made an animated logo for something that we'll probably never see in motion. OK.

Wow that's bad. So they decided this 13 years too late and got some beeping noise from the 50s? LOL

Waiting for this

Hmmmmm.

While the logo is not my cup of tea, what gets me is that Artoo Detoo whistling isn't quite as awesome as the old fanfare. Pity.

I actually really like it.  It reminds me of the Saul Bass-designed logo WB had in the 70s.  I could do without the beeping noises, though.

I've waited since 2000 to see them finally change the name to 21st Century Fox, and they do so, but in the worst way possible.

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

20th Century Fox is still 20th Century Fox.

Newscorp is now 21st Century Fox.

So it's even dumber than it first appears.

See? Just like the old thing, yet modern. That's the way you do it.

Yes I know I used that in my new Workprint fanedit (Ironically, made just the day before they announced the new logo).

Shame they are changing from the Orwellian "Newscorp".  Now they are only an evil corporation bent on befowling the world instead of sounding like one too!
