I just saw a new Star Wars box:

I was wondering, which version of the movies are in this box? '04, '06?
I read in a comment that it contains the original version of the movies. But is it the same as the bonus discs from the '06 set?

Returning to store shelves on November 4th are the six episodes of the Star Wars saga on DVD bundled in convenient trilogy sets. Perfect for gift-giving as the holidays approach, the Prequel Trilogy set includes Episodes I-III, while the Star Wars Trilogy includes Episodes IV-VI.Fans who already own the prequel trilogy double-disc releases (released from 2001-2005) and the Star Wars trilogy double-disc releases (released in 2006) already have all the content that's available in this set. There's nothing new in this set you don't already have. But for friends and family still looking to fill in these gaps in their DVD collections, these sets make it easy and affordable to complete the saga.

Return to Form, or Forum in this case!!Quoting Patton Oswalt

I want to know what happened to the plans they sent you.Sadly, the images on the box are clearer than those found in the actual movie content.

I see NOTHING!I saw these at the store the other day. When I noticed the depth of the case, I started wondering - what are the discs packed in? It looked like a Digipak, and I was just interested in seeing the packaging. (I actually like the external designs, at least, on these sets better than any of the other DVDs)

The red box contains:
1. The Phantom Menace (DVD + Bonus Disc)
2. Attack Of The Clones (DVD + Bonus Disc)
3. Revenge Of The Sith (DVD + Bonus Disc)
The blue box contains:
1. A New Hope (Disc 1 is the 2004 edition, Disc 2 is the 2006 edition)
2. The Empire Strikes Back(Disc 1 is the 2004 edition, Disc 2 is the 2006 edition)
3. Return Of The Jedi (Disc 1 is the 2004 edition, Disc 2 is the 2006 edition)
So to answer your question, the blue box contains both the 2004 & 2006 versions.

I see NOTHING!Actually, what I was asking was about the packaging itself. It was too thin for the standard-sized DVD cases, and it looked like it might have contained a DigiPak instead of the original cases for each movie. That's what I was curious about.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityThey can sqeeze two discs into a digipak now. It's quite impressive.

After enough time had passed from December 31st of '06 with the GOUT very clearly still on sale all over the place, I don't think people lent much credence to the "limited" caveat. That's probably why LFL didn't even bother saying it this time around.

Does it have other cover art or is it the same as 2004/2006?

I see NOTHING!I'm gonna go ahead and sound like a dork here: the "Trilogy" logo on the new DVDs looks wimpy compared to the one on the '97 videos.

I am ready for the trials!I also think Luca$h should really have been made to think by the way that the first three he did still get to be the Star Wars Trilogy on their own, even though he's done his damndest to bastardise them into postscript for his Lil' Orphan Annie story...

I actually like these covers, they did a good job this time.

I don't think this set should have been made its just a cheap way for Lucasfilm to get a quick buck i already have the entire saga on dvd and yes sadly the 06 release of the originals because it was the set i wanted in the first place and there not that bad. The covers are awesome so throw away your special edition disc and keep the theatrical version those are the set to have along with the prequals.
