Since the must play games thread has faded into obscurity, I've started a new one.
Well. First topic: What is you're favorite system this generation?
My vote goes to the GBA for consistently having high-quality games, and partly because cathode-ray monitors give me a killer headache.

Probably the Playstation 2. But my all-time favorite was the goo old SNES.
Next month we'll get Half Life 2 AND Metal Gear Solid 3 at the same week. Oh boy, oh boy, can't hardly wait.

I like Nintendo Gamecube. Nintendo's systems are every bit as good as their competitors' systems and they're cheaper to buy. Also, I have some friends and family who have gone through a few Playstation 2's whereas I still have my original Gamecube. They're not only cheaper when they come off of the assembly line, they're also more durable.

My favorite would have to be the Xbox. The reason is not so much the games but rather the 'options' it comes with. I like that it supports widescreen and 720p, and I absolutely LOVE the hard drive. It beats memory cards, and the ability to listen to your own music while playing can make an ordinary game much better.

I was one of the Xbox's biggest detractors at first. It had about one game worth playing--Halo. Plus I hated it because I knew its percieved coolness would steal third-party support from the Gamecube (which it definitely has done)
But seriously the Xbox has some of the best exclusive games this generation: Halo, KoToR, GTAIII and ViceCity Special Edition, Riddick, Mechassault... Fun stuff.

I was the same way. I'm a loyal Nintendo person, and initially, I perceived the Xbox as all hype with little substance (and no good games besides Halo). But (for me) while the GameCube had some great games up front (Mario Sunshine, Metroid, Rogue Leader, ect) it hit a huge drought after the Wind Waker was released, So I went ahead and got an Xbox and ended up really liking it because of the features I mentioned above, and I haven't looked back since. Although I am looking forward to the new Metroid and Resident Evil 4.

Needless to say, there is no reason to hate any of the systems this generation. Think of the absurd number of high-quality games that have comeout for the current gen. It's insane.
In the past year alone...

Wow, one console, then the next, then the next, then the next, all different. I'm for the GCN all the way. No load time (for its games) & good quality graphics. The quality of the games has sucked recently, but I think that they will be improving. What am i saying, some have been.

I'm not. Ratings boards never agree on any point, except one: all things must be rated.

I've heard good reviews of The Incredibles. I might give it a chance.

T for Teen is a pretty wide range--Starcraft and outlaw golf are in the same camp as SSBM?

Yeah. I've allways been confused by it's Teen rating? The N64 Zelda's got E, but SSBM got teen? Makes no sense.

Wow. That could be a while.
As good as all the consoles have been doing lately(in terms of quality games), you'd think you could break down and buy one.

I guess I'm an xbox man. Although in general I'm an RPG man (thus PS2 fan), the sheer processing power of the xbox along with the best ever controller design just makes me turn to it over and over again. When I have a choice, I get the xbox version and in general prefer that console.
Plus having it *cough* *cough*
modded *cough* really expands the gaming possibility.
(in my defense, between my NES, my roommate's SNES, and my other roommate's Atari 2600, we do a decent job of covering the emulation on the xbox)(...pretty good

I used to be a console man...but PC games I've found to be better in quality. So, that's my decision.
And PS2...Kareoke Revolution rocks.

I don't have surround sound and a couch, and multiple controllers on my PC. That's my main beef with it.
That and the fact that up until a month ago I was on a Pentium I... details details...
