The Living Daylights - Workprint?
Anyone remember the workprints that were circulating before the official release of the movie? Video Watchdog did an excellent article about the print and the differences between it and the final release print. Been after it for years but never managed to track a copy down.

I'd be interested as well. This is the best Bond movie (in my opinion).

I've heard about it but never read the article in Video Watchdog. Do you recall what the differences were in the workprint? IMDB isn't very informative. Living Daylights is one of my 3 favorite Bond movies and I'd love to see a different cut of it.

The Video Wathdog article was very interesting. The workprint includes the original voice of T. Dalton on the set. He dubbed all his lines later because the production thought he talks to seriously.

So that's the only difference? No extra scenes?

The only deleted scene I'm aware of was the flying carpet one included on the original DVD special edition. The workprint had no additonal scenes?
RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

Oh, I asked about this one in another thead. Searched everywhere for this one but haven't been able to track it. Would give my hand for it. Almost an holy graal. Please anyone?!

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

not 100% sure, but I think the WP had an alternate Gun barrel. This alternate take is actually posted on you tube from time to time. If I remember correctly Daton "jumps" a bit before shooting. I have never seen the full workprint before though.

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

Yes, I've seen the "jumpin' gunbarrel" on Youtube. Read about this workprint in an old thread on commanderbond.net's forum and there was a member who said he had it on VHS but. He has gone offline since then so I can't get in touch with him anymore. Pity. It wasn't in so got shape but it would have been a good catch anyway.

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

yes, that sounds like him :(

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

I believe I have it hiding somewhere.  If I remember correctly, the copy I have is an extremely high generation VHS capture to DVD.  The picture is incredibly muddy (almost to the point of not being able to see what's going on), but the audio is bearable.  It's also one of my favorite Bond films.  I wish they allowed the original dialog on  the official release, but I guess you can't go that serious directly after Roger Moore. *rolls eyes*  I wish Dalton would have stayed for Goldeneye, but I completely understand why he didn't.

I'll take a look around for it when I get home (I'm out of town this weekend).

This sounds very interesting! If you find it I'm very curious if you could make something out of it ;) I'm dying to see it!

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

I've got a copy. I was planning to a do a dvd preservation, but I don't have the technology.

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

A site called Asylum of Oblivion has it.

VHS copy?

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

I still have yet to look for it... Now I've been reminded.

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

I have it on dvd, but I can't re-produce it on my computer.

As in, you don't have a burner? Because you could make an .iso, or just rip the .vobs, and upload them.

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

I have a burner, I just don't have a dvd menu maker, or an editing program to enhance the quality of the footage. Unfortunately I can't upload, still got dial-up lol.

Could you just straight make copies of the disc that you have, B&P-style? I'm quite interested in scoring that workprint.

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

Guess what I found today? ;)

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

Really?? Did you find it?

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

I'd love to marry the original Dalton audio with the UE DVD video.  That would be fucking amazing.  (This is, as many here have said, one of my favorite Bond movies as well, only behind On Her Majesty's Secret Service IMO.)

RE: The Living Daylights - Workprint?

Yes, I did find it.  It was buried underneath a ton of SW discs, ironically.  It might be rough to marry the audio, but not impossible.

That's awesome news.
