"Original Theatrical" Pre-ANH DVD I've just acquired
dont mean to post this over and over, but just wanted to know if a cover of this was found or made yet.

I've been using Robert Anthony's covers found at Grisan's site.

Added the "Mysterious" version to my "unofficial" screenshots comparison page.

Moth3r, as you must know by now, Geocities sucks the ass for picture-heavy sites. Hosting the pictures from something like Photobucket and having the HTML pages on your Geocities account link to those pictures would help a lot.

Aw crap, you're right. OK, I'll try photobucket; thanks for the tip.

Does the fact that the MM and TR47 versions are cropped identically perhaps suggest a familial relationship, I wonder?

Same laserdisc.

Moll.

It seems like (from also compairing at Zion's screenshot site) the TR47, Isomix and Mysterious Mysteries transfers are identical save for color saturation and tint changes.

Also, slightly off topic, your transfer, Moth3r, seems more closely cropped than the others, but also the nicest looking and sharpest. Is this from a difference in the LD used or simply your transfer method?
"Original Theatrical" Pre-ANH DVD I've just acquired
Moth3r used the PAL LD's whih have more res. and are all the original film frames.

Yeah, Moll is right - same source, different capture. If you check the raw frame from the DVD then you can see that the letterbox position is slightly different. Besides, who would want to take the TR47 version and add dot crawl?

Updated my screenshots page with the JPGs now hosted at photobucket, had to make a small change to the javascript, let me know if it's broken.

Not much to chose between MM and TR47 versions, although the comb filter artefacts are a downside of the MM version, I think the colour is more natural. Also the presentation (menu, etc) is excellent; the MM is IMHO the best of the finished versions.

Moth3r - You really are showing off how sensational your transfer is looking so far by doing this aren't you? I have the Dr Gonzo version, and think that while a little softer than the usual DVD quality it scrubs up pretty good from my DVD player to tv... and I have just finished the MM version (Just seen online that it's finished... want to get home to look at it!)... but man, yours does look stunning.
"Original Theatrical" Pre-ANH DVD I've just acquired
Just viewed the Mysterious Mysteries "A New Hope." It may not have the PCM audio of the TR47 version or the commentary and anamorphic widescreen of Dr. Gonzo's version, but the overall presentation, isolated music score, and extra goodies bring this disc to the top of my list of single layered favorites. The picture quality is right up there with the TR47 version, too. It makes me more excited that others on this board are going to do even better!

OK, just burnt and have watched selected bits of the MM version... and MAN I am impressed, I mean the image is just so much clearer than the Dr Gonzo version. The menus are sensational (Although the inability to choose things like Audio track or crawl selection without it jumping to the movie is a tad annoying.) as are the extras.

One thing I'm unsure about is the audio in comparison to the DrGonzo version... I'm still trying to work out if there is an ascertainable difference... but I really should be going to bed!

On that note, does anyone know of a good scene to check for surround sound in SW? Or is it predominately a front soundstage film (Jedi has some great moments in the Dr Gonzo version that's for sure)?

I eagerly await the other two films being available for download... and whole heartedly congratulate the creators of this stunning transfer... excellent job! And while you may not have wanted it out... you can rest assured you've made many people happy and helped preserve some great films by it happening.

Covers, inserts and disc labels for this set are now posted over in alt.binaries.starwars, by someone who in a previous post referred to themselves as "The Creator" so I guess that these could be the originals.
"Original Theatrical" Pre-ANH DVD I've just acquired
Could you post those on Grisan's site or something? I don't have binary newsgroup access.

I second the motion.

I temporarily uploaded JPG versions of these covers here. I will update my site soon.

Your tha man, Cheers.

So When are we going to see the other 2 torrents up?
"Original Theatrical" Pre-ANH DVD I've just acquired
i second that. i would love to get my mitts on the ESB and ROTJ versions. these versions are so rockin', i for one would be only too delighted to make a donation to the creators for these copies if i could complete the set.
"Original Theatrical" Pre-ANH DVD I've just acquired
Big thanks to Grisan for the covers... I too would be happy to compensate the original creators for the entire set. This is a wonderful piece of work... (Oh, and by the way, I don't mean this to sound like I'm now saying "Dr Gonzo's version is crap, it's just terrible etc." I mean, it still does have a commentary track, and it is anamorphic for what it's worth... plus it's been around for a lot longer. It's just that last night, when I was supposed to be going to bed I just kept watching more and more scenes from this new version, just loving the crispness of it...)

I did notice some dot crawl in the opening words I think, but didn't really notice it in the selected scenes I watched afterwards.

Oh... and do you think it's time that there should now be an official feedback thread for the MM version much like the others?
"Original Theatrical" Pre-ANH DVD I've just acquired
Dr Gonzo made his set without the help or support of those in the SW community, so his effort was used by others as inspiration. I still think TR-47's is the best available ATM - I know he didn't make it, but it is a very good job.

A bit of news from over at alt.binaries.starwars

As well as posting very high definition covers, disc labels and inserts for the set dubbed the "Mysterious Mysteries" edition, "The Creator" had this to say.............

"It's had this awful name for at least a couple of weeks, so I don't know if it can be changed (you know how names can stick).

If I had my druthers, I would refer to our works under the name "EditDroid." I have no doubt that someday the rest of our stuff will
leak out, and we'd prefer that name be associated with them."

According to another post "EditDroid" was the original Lucasfilm name for the Avid system (whatever that might be???).

Awww, Crap, and I've just gone and written MM on the disc... grumble... EditDroid sounds good... so, we now need an official 'EditDriod' feedback thread.

An Avid|DS system was used in the creation of this set (see Dr Gonzo's post dated 24 Jan in this thread).
