Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD
I have The Making of Mad Max 3, on VHS, from HBO or Cinemax, is that what you are looking For?

This is great that all this stuff is turning up. I thought I was one of the only Mad Max fans here.

These two things could make good easter eggs. The first is "The Road Warrior" done in five minutes with LEGO's. The second is a Mad Max 1 influenced music video:

And to download them, just put them here:

Two more videos could be included with extras, more suited to Mad Max 3, are the 2 Tina Turner music videos. I'm not a Tina Turner fan, but it would make sense to include them (they aren't on the DVD).

Pemdawg:
I edited my post. I meant the Mad Max 2 Making of (6 Min). Ash595 seems to have a recording from TV of the 70min Mad Max 3 Making of. Which one do you have on tape?

The Making of Mad max 3 I have is a french exclusive. It was produced by french television.
Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD
Hi guys,

I own :

- Original Japanese DVD of Mad Max 2
- Off air recording of the french making of Mad Max 3
- Original TV australian version of Mad Max 2 DVD

If I may help anyone... however please don't mix 1 & 2 and TV versions and countries cut (ie the cuts on the german DVD, who are exclusive to germany ?, may not be on the US DVD, it all get damn confusing and everything is mixed up in your posts.

There is one way only to do a special long edit of Mad Max 2, and that would be using a pan & scan DVD transfert to composite with the TV version. Unfortunately, I don't have such DVD, but if someone can help...

I read the thread and I lost what versions of mad max 2 there are but I have a PAL dvd that has the following scene:

So is this the uncut version then?
RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

Hello everyone, apologies for bumping such an ancient thread, but I was just wondering if anyone still had some rare Road Warrior/Mad Max material. The Road Warrior TV Cut could be something to preserve.

Also, does anyone know if a completely uncut version (a longer version than the Blu-Ray exists) is available? Mitch spoke of such a version earlier in the thread but I was under the impression it was complete.

Rare edits of Mad Max would also be of interest. If anyone has these things but can't upload, I'd be more than willing to, provided someone sends me a copy.

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

It's interesting that you bumped this thread now, Falcon.  I just noticed the other day that Warner's US Blu-Ray has drifted out-of-print.  I could be hoping against hope, but maybe they're planning a better edition.

I seem to remember reading some years back that a genuine Special Edition was being prepared...but then it never materialized :/

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

Hmm... that's interesting, OmegaMattman. I actually wasn't aware of that. Hopefully, they are planning a better edition, though I thought the current edition was all right (minus some minor cuts). :-) Hopefully, they won't come out with a DVNR'ed to death transfer.

In any case, a special uncut edition with alternate scenes from the TV cut would be spectacular.

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

If it helps in any way I have the original Japanese DVD. Shown at the bottom of this page - http://www.madmaxmovies.com/films/mad-max-japanese-dvd/index.html

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

The Blu was the uncut Australian version (Hence the MM2 title card) in remarkably clear video. The only big problem with the disc was the fact that the color timing was completely lost and the desert became clear with big blue skies instead of the dark browns of a wasteland. The original US DVD has the proper color.

The 5.1 remix is only 640 kbp/s and there is no theatrical audio. The commentary was a nice touch though.

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

captainsolo, thank you for chiming in. That's good news that it's uncut. I wasn't completely sure. Being first introduced to the Road Warrior by the BD, I didn't know the color timing was off. That's too bad.

milw50717, do you mind just uploading the trailer from your DVD? Sorry if that's breaking forum rules. I'm just curious to see it as the website describes it as different than the one in the US.

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

I could be wrong about this, but I heard ages ago that another cut of Mad Max 2 exists with one recognisable trait ...

The "sped up" scenes that make the action look somewhat "Benny Hill" (but still suit the movie!) are actually shown at regular speed in a particular cut that was maybe originally screened on first release or preview etc.

But since I haven't ever seen the R-Rated VHS and any "old versions" of MM2, I can't know if this claim is actually true.  Can someone clarify this myth for me?

Also, does anyone have (or has seen) the making-of documentaries for all three MM films?  I've heard that the MM1&2 docs have been available on US/Japan releases, and MM3 is more or less bootleg.  I can only imagine they'd be worth watching for at least nostalgic reasons (like the vintage Star Wars and Indiana Jones stuff).

And finally ... MM2 was actually broadcast on Australia's Channel GO! (essentially Channel 9) last week in glorious 1.78:1 ratio.  This version seemed to be the "uncut MA" version with all gore/blood and "naked couple in the tent" scenes intact.

Many thanks.

Yeah, its like they thought the desert looked too red and tried to dial it down.

I work in the Australian outback and, believe me, it really does look like the dirt came from Mars.

Also, Mr Max would almost definitely be sunburnt by the time he got to the wastelands ... either that or he'd be caked in the Mars dirt itself.

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

I have :

- DVD version of the television cut (1.33 format, lots of violence taken out, but lots of footage cut back in unavailable anywhere else)

- Original DVD in 1.33 Pan & Scan

So anyone fancy doing a composite, taking most of the footage from the official P&S DVD and reconstructing the TV cut in better quality, PM and I will rip and upload all the stuff you need to do it.

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

Sorry to bump but was wondering if there's anything been done with this?

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

I,'ve got the presumed tv cut of MM2 as a shitty AVI  file from VHS ripped from monstervision in the 90s, I also have beyond thunderdome from monstervision, was there any extra material for beyond thunderdome?

Is A Fandit REALLY Needed With MM2's Blu-ray Version ?!

So to just get this strait, The only Bluray version of MadMax 2 available at the moment IS the definitive version of the movie which has all footage from ALL versions ausie R-18, Tv cut ect.

The only issue with it is the colour change from the dvd version to bluray.

So whats really needed is a collected effort for all the behind the scenes stuff and documentaries out there and put them on a disc or ideally a filmumentary ;]

As no doubt that when the 4th part-animated ( ...Yep :/ ) Max Movie comes out these will be getting an offical Bluray boxset remastered. Lets just hope they hear the fan comments from the last remaster then and make the wasteland more of a nuked up scorched dead land again.

Maybe in the UK and other territories, but not in the US.  Mad Max in Region A is owned by MGM/Fox, while The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome are Warner properties.

I have a feeling Warner is prepping a BD double-feature for movies 2 and 3 (since Road Warrior is now OOP in the States).  But, given how MGM's catalog is generally treated like leftovers by Fox, I wouldn't expect a real reissue of Mad Max anytime soon...save one of those "digibooks" Fox is so fond of :/

RE: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

Anyone know where to find the DVD of the LOST VERSION of MAD MAX 2 ?

Described here - http://www.madmaxmovies.com/films/road-warrior/road-warrior-lost-version/index.html - as having 20 minutes of lost footage.
