Well, not a single one. Some of them just have some GOUT elements.
I am very excited for this. Excellent work Harmy!!
Damn, that looks gorgeous! :O

The saber alone would make a fan's pants tight. ROTJ hasn't looked this pretty in my lifetime.
Thanks guys. I just compared this with my ROTJ DVD Recostruction and I can tell you, when I'm done with this Despecialized version, you can throw your ROTJ Reconstruction DVDs to the trash ;-)
Damn!! If you lived near me I would buy you dinner.
Troy.

Don't think he'll automatically put out.
Nice one Harmy. An easy fix?
Well, in a way, I just took a still picture of one frame from the SE, cut all the ship that were there in the original (there were more ships added in the SE) out of the background in photshop. Then I erased all the ships from the background, to make a clean background plate of Endor and then animated their movement according to the original and then rotoscoped in the Falcon from the SE.
I just finished all these shots where I didn't need to use GOUT footage and now I'm just waiting for DJ to send me some more clips from his upscale.
hey harmy,
just wondering how you are going to handle sy snootles?
also, is there very much DeSE'ing left to do with ROTJ?
judging by the samples you posted you pretty much have this thing in the bag ;-)
The Sarlaac scene looks very good. The only issue I could spot was that the pit itself was visibly unstable in the shot of Luke standing above it when the camera is looking directly downward. Other than that, fantastic. ;)
Yeah, I did all I could about that shake in that overhead shot but I just couldn't get it to look any better.
As to the musical number, I'll be forced to go with a straight GOUT upscale because there isn't a single shot that could be used from the HD version but it looked quite OK in the PDE and this time I should have DJ's awesome upscale at my disposal, so it should be even better.
I love the whole Sarlac scene it is practically perfect.

I still notice a bit of jitter of the superimposition of the old Sarlac mouth over the 2006 footage at 2:25 when Luke is on the plank.
Other than that it looks perfect

I thought it looked fine in the PDE, as you say, so if it looks even better then I think it will be great.
hey harmy, just curious about ROTJs status?
the only part left that i imagine would give you trouble is the ending celebration. will some shots require upscaled gout entirely or will it just be a matter of rotoscoping?
i can't wait for the workprint testing :-)
I'm working on the celebration right now. Only two or three shots will have to be almost entirely GOUT but they look OK.
Here's a preliminary version of the end celebration scene:
I've been through that ending frame by frame. There are missing frames everywhere. How did you accomplish this?!Harmy said:

Well, where there were just a few frames missing from a longer shot, I just repeated a few frames to get it to the right length, but where there were bigger parts missing, I had to fade in and out of GOUT (sometimes more than once within one shot) or just enhance GOUT with some HD elements or both. Sometimes it was really hard to get the sources to match but I think the result is quite satisfactory. The only shot that I'm still not quite content with is the last one, there is just too much missing from it for slowing it down to work, so I'll have to fade in from GOUT.

that's awesome harmy.
is color correcting all that's left?
