Blade Runner 2, 4, and 5-disc sets in December
— December 27, 2007 at 6:03 PM — Post 51 of 57
Since I couldn't post this the other day due to the forum problems, I'll post it now.
There's two great things about this set (so far that I've seen). First is the letter included by Ridley Scott. "My goal was to give you the film in whatever form you prefer, with the best picture and sound quality possible." That is awesome. Not "Here's my director's cut" or "Here's the theatrical cut" and live with it. We got 5 different cuts and we can pick whichever one we like best.
The second thing is from the features on the Workprint disc. In the behind the scenes feature, the guy that "headed up" the creation of The Final Cut says "We can't call this the Director's cut, since that's already out and I didn't want to call it a Special Edition since the fans would just think that we're trying to get them to buy yet another cut. We had to give it a name that says this is it, there won't be any other versions, this is The Final Cut."
Those are the two most awesome things about this set. We don't have to wonder if we're ever going to get a version with all the scenes from another version and we don't have to wonder if they're ever going to try and "gouge" us again. This is it!

Blade Runner 2, 4, and 5-disc sets in December

I got the 5 disc set the other day and so far I've watched the workprint and US theatrical cuts. Next up is the international theatrical cut, then the '92 "Director's" cut (the version I've had on VHS for the last goodness-knows-how-long) and then I'm going to watch the "Final" cut. I've watched a couple of the extras so far too.
One of the most powerful reactions I've had so far is the overwhelming urge to hold it in front of a bound & gagged Luca$h's face while screaming in his ear: "THIS IS HOW TO TREAT YOUR FANS" over and over and over and over again. Now, admittedly, this would probably not change his attitude to his "vision" but it sure would make me feel a whole lot better.

Really, really, really hope they do new encodes as the Blus currently out are all single layer with outdated video and audio, and not at all representative of how they could look with the new Final Cut.

Plus Dangerous Days would be great in HD!!

I too hope it is a new encode.

Hopefully the U.K. will get this set also, last time all we got was the final cut on Blu Ray.
