Avatars

So, I've noticed that for some people (such as Gaffer Tape), their avatars are of small size.  However, whenever I try to give myself a smaller avatar, I get a large obnoxious border.  Now, I don't mind a *small* border that normally occurs, but isn't that just a bit strange that it absolutely HAS to give me the large one?  Is it the file format I'm using? Jack is not amused.

Perhaps this belongs in suggestions, but oh well.

RE: Avatars

Whatever I do, I can't get my avatar to show up with a transparent background on the forum. I tried saving it as gif, png8, png24, changing sizes, nothing helps. Yet I seem to remember that when I had my "blue lightsaber" avatar that showed up correctly. Am I doing something wrong?

RE: Avatars

Same here.  Although the page says that PNG's are accepted for Avatars, they obviously are not.  No matter what I try, even before being banned, it would only accept JPG.

RE: Avatars

Have you tried looking at it using difference browsers?

What an odd thing to include.

RE: Avatars

Any image with a transparency won't work because transparency breaks the resizing function. It's on the bug list.

I included that just in case someone thought the problem might be a product of accessing the site through proxies, etc.  That's all, no conspiracy.  :)

RE: Avatars

I didn't expect a conspiracy.  It's just you seem to mention it in nearly every post.  Just be thankful you're allowed back at all, and let it go.

RE: Avatars

This still bothers me. Is there anything I can do without resizing my avatar? Change the file format, etc.
