just wana here what you gusy think of this movie so far. i have heard the ron howard is directing, and that possiblities for the lead role are russel crow, tom hanks, hugh jackman, gorge cloony.

personally i dont like any of these actors for the role of robert langdon. but if it has to be one of the the least evil one is hugh jackman. i will be very disapointed if they choose tom hanks. this roole does not suit him in any way.

This will suck anyhoo. Ron Howard is directing.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I dig on Ronnie. I always give him a chance.

None of those actors are necessarily being pursued for the role, per se. They have all expressed interest in it, though. I hope they go with someone else. But, of those, I would like Tom Hanks the best after seeing him in Road to Perdition. No Russell, no Hugh, no George. Actually, all things considered, no Tom either. But, like I said, of those four he is who I like the best.

My problem with Ron Howard as a director is that he's far too mainstream, plus as a producer (with partner Brian Grazer) he foisted the abominable live action adaptations of How the Grinch Stole Christmas (which he also directed) and The Cat in the Hat. I have yet to see A Beautiful Mind and will only do so to see another excellent performance by Jennifer Connelly.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

My gripe with Ron is similar to Gundark's, I dont think he very inventive. Thats not to say that he hasnt directed some great films. A Beautiful Mind was alright I think, but hardly worthy of all the acclaim. I think he has gotten somewhat formulaic, and most of his movies are made to appeal to the mainstream (and why not, its a business) but this makes them sort of stale, IMO.
If he stays close to the book, this wont really come into play. But if they start taking creative liberties with the adaptation, Im sure it will go downhill.

Well, they almost always take liberties with novel translations to the big screen. Closest adaptation I've ever seen has been Mystic River. Great book, great movie.

I agree that Ronnie has been rather mainstream, and I do also hold contempt for his ruining of Dr. Seuss' legacy. But, for some reason I still give him a chance. Can't explain why, but I do. And I loved A Beautiful Mind. Yes, Gundark, a masterful performance by Connelly (and Crowe, and Bettany, and Harris)

I'd say you're right that it's going to be one of those four, but I'd like to see someone a little more unconventional. I still have to read the book before I make a final decision though.

I read the book and I'm having trouble remembering who I was mentally envisioning in the lead as I read it. For the femme role, I was thinking about Sophie Marceau - the woman who played Princess Isabelle in Braveheart. But, somehow, I just know that Catherine Zeta-Jones is gonna fight for the role, and probably get it. That would ruin the movie IMHO.

I think Hanks could fill the role, but I'd be looking around for someone better. Maybe someone unknown.

Shimmy, Christian Bale is the guy playing Batman in the next movie. He was also in Equilibrium, Reign of Fire, American Psycho, and Shaft.

I still think a no-name would be good. It would add to the mystery of the movie, not knowing the roles the person usually takes, or having a previous idea of his character.
